Today, we received notice from our Honduran lawyer that Andres' biological mother signed the legal document granting consent for Steve and I to adopt Andres.
Next, we're waiting to be assigned a court date to travel to Honduras to ratify the consent, which they're hoping will be in April. After, we will meet with a social worker and psychologist from DINAF. Our lawyer will then submit our full file to the court for a ruling. They expect the court decision to take 2-3 months, so perhaps by July.
Once the court ruling is issued, we will have to travel to Honduras for 2-3 weeks. During this time, we will be provided temporary custody of Andres until DINAF signs the adoption decree and then after wait as we receive an appointment with the US Embassy for Andres' visa so we can travel back to the US.
